 IVI coordinates and manages all aspects of asbestos abatement projects. Before abatement work begins, IVI ensures that the containment and decontamination facilities are properly constructed. During the project, the IVI project monitor conducts required air monitoring and observes the contractor’s activities to ensure that the work is properly performed. Once abatement is completed and before the containment is removed, the IVI project monitor performs a visual inspection and an aggressive clearance air monitoring of the work area to ensure the area is safe for re-occupancy and will obtain regulatory closure.
For most buildings with asbestos, the EPA recommends the development of an asbestos operations and management program to communicate the locations of asbestos to appropriate parties and train building employees on how to work safely around asbestos containing materials.
