Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act is a Federal regulation which requires federal agencies to take into account the effects of the undertaking on nearby historic architectural and archeological resources. In regard to telecom projects, Section 106 reports are typically prepared as part of the NEPA assessment.
Telecom equipment and antennas may have a visual and direct impact on historic buildings, districts, and archaeological resources. Such impacts need to be identified and assessed in order to avoid potential adverse effects. IVI’s all encompassing approach includes completing the necessary forms (FCC Form 620 or 621), preparing documentary photographs, and consulting/interfacing with various local, state and federal agencies such as State Historic Preservation Offices (SHPOs). |
